The Best Clean Diapers in 2026: My Full Review

This post is in paid partnership with Coterie. I only endorse products I trust and use in my own family.

If you’ve ever tried to shop for a clean diaper, you know it can quickly become overwhelming. Every brand has a list of certifications, claims, and buzzwords… but which ones actually perform? As a mom of three who cares deeply about what touches my kids’ skin, I decided to put five of the top clean diaper brands to the test myself.

Here’s my full breakdown across absorbency, clean materials, fit and feel, price, and convenience. The TLDR? Coterie is my top pick! 🏆

Absorbency

We’re talking diapers here, so performance is extremely important. I need a diaper that I can trust to get the job done. To test, I poured two full cups of water in each diaper, noting how quickly it absorbed and how dry the diaper felt.

Testing absorbency of 5 non-toxic diaper brands

Freestyle: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ All two cups absorbed easily, however there was leaking through the back panel and overall damp feel

Pampers Amore: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Liquid did not seem as easily absorbed, I noticed some pooling as I was pouring. Did not seem to leak through the back panel, however

Coterie: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absorbed liquid almost instantly, diaper felt dry to the touch on both sides

Millie Moon: ⭐️⭐️ Absorbed all two cups of liquid, however took noticeably longer. Did not seem to leak through the back panel

Kudos: ⭐️Liquid pooled as I poured, not absorbing quickly. Also leaked through the back panel and left significant dampness

Winner: Coterie

Clean Materials

I’m pretty conscious about what I use on my kids when it comes to clean materials. And while it’s great that more brands than ever are focusing on non-toxic diapers, not all of them meet the same standards. Here’s what each diaper offers:

Freestyle:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TCF (totally chlorine free), no fragrance or lotion, and EWG verified

Pampers Amore: ⭐️⭐️No fragrance, parabens, latex, however only elemental chlorine free (not TCF). Skin conditioners like shea butter are also included.

Coterie: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TCF and free of fragrance, lotion, dyes, parabens, phthalates. Plus Coterie publishes safety reports, and are third party verified

Millie Moon: ⭐️⭐️ No fragrance, lotions, latex, however only elemental chlorine free (not TCF)

Kudos: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cotton-based liner (though, like others, there is plastic used elsewhere in the diaper). No fragrance, parabens, phthalates, lotions and EWG verified

Winner: Tie Freestyle, Coterie & Kudos

Fit & Feel

I’m a firm believer that diapers should be held to high standards and actually be pleasant to use for both baby and parent. Soft to the touch, no weird gaps, no irritated skin, and no unnecessary laundry from blowouts. At the end of the day, the best fit will vary from baby to baby, but here’s my experience with my own kiddo, who is average sized.

Freestyle:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fit my baby well, however I did notice a faint plasticy smell. Feel was nice, very smooth

Pampers Amore: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fit was normal, however I did notice a slight chemical smell when diaper was wet. Feel was nice, soft and fluffy

Coterie: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Super pleased with the performance and fit! Zero leaks or blowouts. The feel is 10/10, truly soft like cashmere

Millie Moon: ⭐️⭐️ Overall odd fit, there was very little stretch and what felt like a lot of extra fabric. Not a secure fit on my baby, and personally I don’t love that I can see the pattern through light clothing. The feel is a little crinkly in comparison to others

Kudos: ⭐️Almost no stretch at all, and significantly smaller fit than the other brands. Had a slight chemical smell. Feel was a nice, almost waffle-like on the exterior, but rougher interior

Winner: Coterie

Price

Pricing fluctuates a bit with each brand based on how many packs of diapers you purchase, if you subscribe, etc. Here’s a rough price breakdown:

Freestyle:  ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ~$0.48 per size 3 diaper (with subscription)

Pampers Amore: ⭐️⭐️⭐️  ~$0.42 per size 3 diaper

Coterie: ⭐️⭐️ ~$0.57 per size 3 diaper (with subscription)

Millie Moon: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ~$0.28 per size 3 diaper

Kudos: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ~$0.48 per size 3 diaper (with subscription)

Winner: Millie Moon

Convenience & Customer Service

As parents, we all have a mile long to-do list. Removing even one thing from the daily mental load is a win! Here are my thoughts on my experiences with each diaper brand.

Freestyle: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available online and at Target and Walmart. Subscription available, though with limited built in customer service

Pampers Amore: ⭐️⭐️ Available online at Amazon, Target and Walmart. No subscription offering

Coterie: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available online and at Whole Foods. Subscription available and next level customer service, including 24/7 text support

Millie Moon: ⭐️⭐️ Available online and in store at multiple retailers. No subscription offering

Kudos: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Available online and at Target. Subscription available, though with limited built in customer service

✨Winner: Coterie

Final Verdict

After thorough testing, Coterie is my clear pick for the best clean diaper of 2026. What sets them apart is the combination of truly clean ingredients, best-in-class absorbency, and a feel that’s softer than anything else I tested. And as someone who has now been subscribing for a while, their 24/7 text support has been an unexpected bonus.
